Class Reunion Invitation Template
Two versions: a formal printed letter and a casual email blast.
Class reunions live or die by the invitation. The classmates you haven't talked to in 20 years aren't going to dig through a chaotic Facebook post to figure out whether they should buy a plane ticket. They need clarity: what day, what time, where, how much, what's included, and who do I send the check to? These two templates give you both flavors — a formal version for printed cards mailed to alumni addresses, and a casual email version for the Facebook group and the class email list. Copy, fill in the brackets, send. RSVPs roll in within 48 hours.
Version 1: Formal Printed Invitation
Fields in [BRACKETS] are placeholders. Print on card stock and mail in a real envelope — the gesture matters for milestone reunions.
Version 2: Casual Email / Facebook Post
For the class Facebook group, email list, or text blast. Keep it short — most people read this on their phone.
How to Customize These Invitations
Lead with social proof
Always name 3-5 classmates who have already confirmed. Even if those names are just the committee, it signals the event is real and other people are coming.
Subject line specificity wins
'Class Reunion Info' gets ignored. 'Lincoln High Class of 2005 — 20-Year Reunion, October 18 — RSVP by Sept 1' gets opened. Be specific in every subject line and follow-up.
Include a hard deadline
Most classmates won't RSVP without a deadline. Set one 6-8 weeks before the event and tie it to ticket price (early-bird discount drops off).
Mention the missing
Listing 'still looking for [Name 1] and [Name 2]' in your casual email turns classmates into recruiters. It works.
Send 3 reminders, not 1
Initial invite, halfway-to-deadline reminder, final 1-week reminder. Most RSVPs come from reminder emails — not the original.
Personal touch for VIPs
For classmates who lived on a different continent or skipped the last reunion, send a personal text from a friend in their old group. It works better than any mass invitation.

Class Reunion Invitation Questions
When should I send class reunion invitations?
Send formal class reunion invitations 4 to 6 months before the event. Save the date should go out 9 to 12 months in advance. Classmates need time to book travel, request time off, and arrange childcare — and class reunions almost always include people flying in from out of state.
Should I send class reunion invitations by email or mail?
Do both. Email reaches most classmates fast and is easy to forward to people you haven't found yet. Printed cards make the event feel real and are the only way to reach classmates with no current email on file. The best response rates come from a 1-2 punch: email blast, followed by a printed card 2 weeks later for non-responders.
What should a class reunion invitation include?
A complete class reunion invitation needs: graduating class name and year, exact date and times, venue name and address, ticket price per person (and what it covers), RSVP deadline, payment instructions, hotel block info if applicable, dress code, and contact name with phone and email. Add a link to the class reunion page where they can RSVP and see who else is coming.
How do I make my class reunion invitation stand out?
Use a senior yearbook photo or a school mascot graphic at the top. Mention 2 or 3 classmates who have already confirmed — social proof drives RSVPs. Keep the subject line specific: 'Lincoln High Class of 2005 — 20-Year Reunion, October 18' beats 'Class Reunion Info.' And always include a deadline. No deadline equals no response.
Can I use the same invitation for high school and college reunions?
Yes — the structure is identical. Swap 'Class of [YEAR]' for the school name and graduating year that applies. College reunions often have more formal venues and higher ticket prices, so the formal version of this template tends to fit better.
