Why a Seating Chart Makes Lunch Run Smoother

The moment food is ready at a large reunion, 80 people simultaneously try to navigate to a table. Without assigned seating or at minimum a suggested seating arrangement, the result is always the same: family branches clump together in tight groups, some tables overflow while others sit half-empty, and the guest with a severe shellfish allergy ends up at the table where someone brought shrimp. A seating chart solves all three problems at once.

This template gives you eight numbered tables with eight seats each — covering up to 64 guests on one sheet. Each table has a family branch label so you can organize by branch (the Johnson side at Table 1, the Williams side at Table 2) or mix branches intentionally to encourage cousin connections. Post the completed chart at the entrance so guests can find their seats before the food line opens.

Using This Template With Reunly

Reunly stores your guest list with family branch information and dietary notes. When it's time to finalize seating, pull up your Reunly guest list filtered by branch, then fill in the name slots on this chart. The dietary notes in Reunly help you place guests with restrictions at tables where their needs can be easily accommodated.

For larger reunions with more than 8 tables, print multiple copies of this sheet and number tables sequentially across sheets. Pair with our Table Tent Cards to mark each table clearly so guests can spot their number from across the room.

Questions

Should I assign seats at a family reunion?

It depends on the size. For reunions of 50 or fewer guests, open seating usually works fine. For larger reunions — especially multi-day events with meal service — assigned seating by family branch prevents the chaos of everyone trying to sit together and helps ensure dietary accommodations reach the right guests.

How do I use this template with Reunly?

Reunly tracks your guest list with family branch information. Export your guest list, sort by branch, and use that list to fill in the name slots on this seating chart. Then pair it with Reunly's meal tracking to ensure dietary restrictions are noted per table.

How many people fit at each table?

Each table on this template has 8 name slots, designed for a standard 60-inch round banquet table that seats 8–10. If your tables seat more or fewer guests, use the blank lines to adjust.
